How do voice messages work?

In a chat, hold the microphone button to record and let go to send. Voice messages can be 1 to 60 seconds long.

Record a voice message

  1. In a chat, press and hold the microphone button.
  2. Speak, then let go to send.
  3. To cancel, slide your finger to the side until you see Release to cancel, then let go.

Hands-free

  • Swipe up while recording to lock it, so you don't have to hold the button.
  • Or tap the microphone quickly once. You can then Discard, Stop or Send.

Good to know

  • A voice message must be at least 1 second long. Recording stops by itself at 60 seconds.
  • Voice messages work in group chats too.
  • Only the people in the chat can play them. They are deleted when the chat is deleted.
