Can other people see my exact location?
No. We store your location only roughly — on a grid of about 1 km (0.6 miles) — and others see only an approximate distance. Nobody sees your address or where you are on a map.
What others see
- An approximate distance — and only if you're less than 100 km (about 60 miles) apart.
- For trips, a badge like Visiting with dates, and no distance.
- In travel mode, that you're in travel mode — not where you really are.
How we protect it
- Your location is rounded before it is saved.
- Distances are shown in whole kilometers, or rounded miles.
- We limit how often a location can change, which stops people from finding someone by checking distances again and again.
