Miami-Dade County's road and path to Virginia Key and Key Biscayne, the Rickenbacker Causeway, doubles as a public bicycling and running route.
Cyclists and runners use the causeway. It is about 3.6 miles overall, with 1.2 miles of bridge and a toll near the western end at Brickell Avenue. Local group rides use the William Powell Bridge stretch.
Miami-Dade County Public Works runs the causeway. Tempo is athletic and everyday: a commute path that doubles as a training route.
